Engine temp.
This if for you riders that hove the power commander vision and use the gauge set up i did a 230 mile ride around cave creek and buckeye sunday and my oil temp was 250 (gauge on the dip stick) and the vision read engine temp at 365. what temps are every one else getting? stage one set up on a 2012 xl1200c outside temp was cool low to mid 70's average speed 85 mph on 303 and i-10
In hot weather 90*-90*+ I was seeing oil temps (analog dipstick) right at 250* at Interstate speeds. Installed a Jaggs oil cooler and now I'm lucky to see anything over 220*, normally right around 210*.
Before running an AutoTune with the FP3 I was seeing head temps at Interstate speeds around 380* or so. After the AutoTune they've dropped to around 350*-360* at Interstate speeds.
Never have been able to find out or a straight answer as to what is considered a 'normal' head temp.

Harley doesn't really give a normal head temp. There's a lot of variables that affect it. I would think anywhere between 300-400°F is fine. Much above 400° I'd start looking at how lean the AFR is.
i haven't seen much above 330-340°F with an infrared next to the spark plugs.

I keep telling myself I need to buy an infrared thermometer.
Damn, I borrowed an IR thermometer the other day from our high school auto shop to check the temps on my new headlight. Didn't think about checking the engine head temps. I'll try to remember to borrow it again and check head temps. Too cold to ride the next couple days.

My 2013 HD Service manual shows the "normal" oil temp of 230 F
(it is listed in the section on testing oil pressure)
On the 2007 to 2013 Sportsters the ECM does not start to calculate Adaptive Fuel Factor (Long term fuel trim) Until an ET of 356 F, it stops at 414 F.
The ECM does not start pulling ignition advance until 394 F (and then only at MAP values over 70 KPa (around 20-25% and higher throttle position on a stock 1200)
It does not pull ignition timing at MAP values over 50 KPa until a temp of 428 F.
It does not pull ignition timing at MAP values over 40 KPa until a temp of 509 F.
Over last summer I had a MAX Engine Temp of 385 F.
The EITMS (Extended Idle Temperature Management System) Mode 1 does not add idle (rpm under 1200 rpms) enrichment the until 464 F.

auto tune adjust that on the go i am trying to find out what others have seen their engine temps go to using the power vision as gauges mine is set up to tell me rpm engine temp and volts the little 1200 is set up with se sage one intake se street performance slip on and a power vision with an learned map.
