If so, he may want to just sell it, anyone not able to discern a bottle of transmission fluid from an oil bottle should not be out on a motorcycle. The bottles are not even the same packaging. A reason for that.
wow, really? I wish I had access to my arfcom memes right now. Got a few Id love to post up in reference to your reply.

@OP ps fluid is pretty much hydraulic oil even if you ran it, its not that bad. Just drain the tank and add 20w-50. Bike will be fine. Im actually running Valvoline VR1 20W-50 in mine.

I thought about VR1. I went with full syn 20w50 valvoline.
can you tell any difference running VR1?

Btw I pulled the tank ,drained and flushed with kerosene.
topped it off and its running fine. My 79 doesnt have a filter so I didnt have to worry with changing one of those.

High zinc oil formulas will allow zinc to adhere to internal engine parts, providing a layer of protection. Its not something your going to feel per se, rather a peace of mind. Hint: High Zinc is found in V twin formulated oils.

I used to run Amsoil motorcycle oil exclusively in my old 2012 Dyna, so im not bagging on full synthetics. I just simply dont want to pay what full synthetic costs when VR1 will get me there in a conventional oil for cheaper.

I've used Castrol GTX 20W50 in my bike for many years. I bought a jug of VR1 20W50 Conventional, but have a couple concerns. I've heard it can sludge up in non-racing uses, and that it does not have the same level of detergents, seeing as it's usually changed at 500 mile intervals in racing cars. Also, superstition about changing oils is also a concern. Not sure there is any gain to be had by changing over from Castrol.

Never heard of any modern oil sludging up in a Harley Davidson if changed at proper interval.

From my research, VR1 has a API rating of SM and service interval of 3 months or 3,000. SN oil ratings are typically 6 month 5,000 mile intervals.

If money issue could run some cheap convtional for a shorter time than regular.

Don't use any kind cleaner to spray down,in case it gets on bearing.

For the record I would change the darn fluid, which is no ****, atleast to me. Ya you probably could run it.

Oil change intervals are determined by the engine manufacturer, not the oil manufacturer.

Some say better filters and oil might change that. You can debate it
