Rear Fender Options
I have a 2004 883XL. I was wondering if I could take the rear fender from a 2010+ Iron 883 and put it onto the 2004? Would the holes lines up correctly to put it on? I am not worried about paint, as I intend to paint the tank and fenders anyways. If the OEM Iron 883 rear fender would not fit, does anyone know of any fenders that would fit and look like the Iron fender?
I really like the shorter fender. I found one that claims to work, and is a replica of the Sportster 72 fender, but am unsure if the Iron and 72 have the same rear fender.

Ya know what ya want is a good start and yer gonna repaint the tins. Use some blue painters tape and put it on the fender to match what yer after. Looks good? CUT THE FENDER. (Cut off wheel works better than tin snips.) Problem solved.
here is how I did the rear fender on my ‘07 Roadster

The Iron, 48, and Nightster use the same rear fender support part number. All other Sportsters, except for the XR, use the same fender support as what you have on your bike.
Not sure what the differences are, but sometimes the difference is only cosmetic like black vs chrome and the reflector is attached to the support vs on the fender, like on your bike.
I would go the the local dealer and if they have a 48 or Iron in stock, take some measurements for holes, length, etc. and compare to yours for the fender.
The other option is what HOTLAP did.
