Default forcewinder question

This is an odd question, so I doubt it has been asked (though if it has i'm sure someone will point it out lol) anyway I love the look of the forcewinder, but I was wondering if it could be mounted upwards, as opposed to forward? I saw someone make a custom bike on some discovery/tbs show or whatever and they had 2 or 4 (i was prolly drunk so I'm a little unclear) intakes pointed upwards like the look on old hotrods with the 4 or 6 barrel carbs. So does anyone know if it could be done? Also I am wondering if that would effect the proformance of it?

Or perhaps if there is another intake that could do that I would be interested in it

also just incase it matters, I have a 2007 XL1200N

thanks

Yes, it can be. It will not perform as well as mounting it the right way. Besides why would you want to do that? It will look like a christmas tree.

my indy shop has a few custom bikes with those style filters pointed up. its more of a actual cylinder* than pointed, looks nice going into a big exposed carbuerter, and a thick fuel line from the tank.

*the filter is a oval about 6 inches at its widest. and 4 inches at the squeezed in area

Yes, anything can be done, if you want too. I doubt you'll see a difference in the preformance of it either, but,I could be wrong. Most builders do that because of the " look at me. I'm cool " factor. ( same reason I'm running the Howling Chicken Heavy Breather )Ever seen anything like that on a drag bike? If you like the look, go for it. It's your scoot and your money, Make it fit you and who cares what others like.

I've seen adapters that rotate the forcewinder stlye intakes into the straight up position. I think it was in J&P's catalog. Looks like a metal spacer ring with 2 sets of mounting holes so that you can clock the elbow.
