I'm out in Greensboro, NC working at a trade show representing the place I work. Well I'm talking to a guy about bike week in Myrtle Beach and he tells me he has a heritage softail and I said that's cool, I've got a sportster 1200 custom. and he kind of smiles and says well I hate to tell you but you don't have much of a bike. I said I have to disagree with you my bike is a ton of fun to ride, then he walks off.... I just laughed...

See, I wasn't preaching. I hear a lot of people saying things like "I've got 150k on my Electraglide. Only a top-end rebuild and two clutches in all that." That kind of stuff. Sorry, but a top-end rebuild is *not* "no real work on it". Clutches are wear items.
If I was preaching metrics, do you really think I'd own two Harleys? Hence the "no pissing contest". The point is lost and missed. Never mind.

Had the VTX1800....was very nice.....but it didn't give me the thrill my 1200C does.... the guy who purchased my VTX is happy and I'm happy...what's wrong with that?
Why do people feel compelled to open their mouth just to get a "rise" out of someone??????
I don't get it!
Peace

I think it's funny that the non-Harley-owning sport bike crowd thinks more of the Sportster than the typical "Harley guy" folks.

RE: ignorant people
yeah yeah, my bike weighs 491 and its not about to lose to no stinkin heritage...
not on a bad hair day.
whats withthose 6 second Ets at 224 mph? Is that random or what?
Back to the point, I have 2 close friends with heritages, one is an 06 and one is an 01. the 01 has stage one and randy is a bike mech
it still wont touch mine, not even close. the 06 is even slower. Better ride one or two so you know what they are capable of...

RE: ignorant people
I've got several bikes, the smallest is a 1968 175cc BSA Bantam. The fastest is my Yamaha XJR1300. I love riding anything and everything. I'm not the best rider in the world, or the most experienced but I love to get the most I can out of a bike and riding it to the best of my ability.
I have no time for idiots who rubbish other peoples bikes, whatever they are. Most do it because they think it makes them look good but they end up looking like a$$holes. Some guys do it to compensate for having a small dick. Ignore them or pity them but never get upset about it.
I enjoy riding my Bantam at 30 mph as much as I enjoy riding my XJR at 130 mph. They are both fun in different ways. They both provide a different experience but the wind is the same.
