Default VENTING !

This may not be the proper forum to vent ! but i just got to vent
Just left the stealership, Are there any salesamen here?
I just want to know how salesman determine what customers come in to your store to look or buy?
I walked in to the dealership, I am interested in buying an 08 wideglide, 2 maybe 3 salesman in on the floor, 1 is helping another customer who is looking at a roadking, other 2 standing b/s'ing, the one helping the other customer steps out for a couple of minutes and comes back in , and tell the guy he can sit on it and start her up, I turn and look to see if he does, the salesman starts it up for him , bike sounds sweet , he turns it off, and the guy says well I am not ready for one right now just killing time and walks out.
I am standing there looking at the wideglide for about 10 - 15 minute next to the others lined up , so very dificult to get a good look and feel for the bike.
I look around and all 3 salesmans are outside the store ! I could not believe it ! Not even a good morning or if you have any questions So I left
Guess I will go out of town to next dealership which is 50 miles away, same thing happen when I bought my 04 sportster, I turn to salesman to ask a question and he had walked away , so I went and bought my sporster out of town.
Again is there a proper attire or do I have to flash money around so a salesman can actualy come and see if I am buying or just "killing time"
Ok I have vented now - thank you all lending an ear

That's B.S. I am a salesman and I talk to EVERYONE who is looking at a bike...Which is why I have been very successful... Not all dealerships are created equal... If you are standing around for that long and not being helped... Take your money and your business elsewhere, because they certainly don't deserve it.

i agree ... i was looking last spring for a 07 Nightster ... at the time everyone was on backorder ...

so at one of the local dealers (Ft Washington, MD) the salesman, MIKE offered to look up local dealers to see what was on their floors or if they orders coming in .... NO-ONE did locally so he called 5 other dealers withing 200 miles of me and he found one coming in like a month later ...

AMAZING! ... he didnt make 1¢ from me ... he and i might ride together sometime, that was his answer when he gave me the good news !!!

thanks MIKE in Ft Washington, MD

,,,, thats a sales rep for you!!!

It's not unusual here. I was in a dealer in Ft. Lauderdale on Friday for about 1/2 an hour just looking around at the bikes. Not a single salesman approached me. Granted, I was just looking, but they did not know that or even say hello. Actually, as I walked by the Parts counter on the way out, the parts guy said hi and asked if he could help me. I said sure, if you have a 2008 accessories catalog I can have. He handed me one, I said thank you, and left.

In my area, there is only one (we have 7 in the gerneral area)stealer that is that bad with their motorcycle sales. Most of the motorcycle sales people will ask if you need help. And as much as I go in, many of them know my by name. And I'm lucky to have a really good parts and accessories department that is just 10 minutes away.

Service departments.....different story. THEY SUCK!! Gotta ride 80 miles outta town for a decent HD service department. But, my bike will be outta warranty in another 3 months, so there will be absolutely no use for those anymore anyway.

I go up to them a say in a loud voice any one working. Who's up a term for which one of them got the next customer that gets there attention. Then I make em work let em give me there BS line. Then I tell I gots to shop around more. Ill get back to you. then walk out I also drink there coffee. If they got the better price I might go back but they usually don't Iv'e run in to this at car and motorcycle Dealers through out my life When I talk to a salesperson Im out to buy not wast there time If they do come up to me and Im kicking tires I will tall them up front. But if I looking To buy freg em I make them work . Especially if they dis me.

I've had the same expserience of being ignored at more than one dealership. Thought maybe it was the fact I was female, guess not. They must all attend the same training classes on how to provide bad service. Sort of gave up looking for a somewhat attentive dealership.

I can vouch for HighDesertKid. I walked in, he talked to me, I bought a bike.

Hey man, when are you delivering my bike???? j/k

I have heard that there are good and bad dealerships. Shop around, no reason to keep the bad ones in business.

Never had that problem. If I was interested in a bike, they bent over to deliver. Not buying another scoot anytime soon. I love my Sportie..

I may try and get me a night train in a couple years and keep the sporty. Hope some of the dealers around here are good. I don't know that I will buy from the dealer though. All the ones around here seem pricey.
