Took last remaining emblems off today....still have one stubborn reflector left on lower front fork....it's soaking now in adhesive remover......next, I will remove front wheel and polish lower forks.

 

How did you remove the decals from the tank? It looks to me like mine are under the clearcoat... Mine is the '07 883C so I don't know if they are different than yours or not...

 

Nope, mine were metal HD emblems that were stuck on with foam tape......Your decals are there forever unless you sand them off and repaint over them....Yep, they are under several coats of clear....sorry.

 

That's what I thought, but was hoping there was some magic involved... I'd really like to get the maroon stripe off, but that'd be the same story...

 

if you need any advice with polishing the lower forks let me know... just did my brothers and they look AMAZING!!!! took about 4 hours with one of us on each leg... worked perfect... i put a step by step in the $50 mod thread in the dyna forum... while you have the wheel off you may as well do the front rotor as well!

looks great! your bike has come a long way in a short period of time..what about the road king? do you like the sportster better or something?

 

I've got the RK where I want her for now except getting her new bags and tourpac painted.....Really, she runs like a scalded dog and handles like a lambo....She's kinda jealous cause I'm focusing on the sporty, but the sporty is my round town and commuter bike so she gets lots more use and attention.

The sporty is headed to the Dark Side.....I have two personalities and the sporty satisfies my desire to scare women and small children...the RKC is my innocent looking geezer glide personna

Here is the RKC as she presently looks thru my cell phone camera......Waiting for me to get off work....

 

The 1200 has the actual metal emblem on the tank. The 883 has what looks like a sticker under the clearcoat.

 

Are you going to put a different emblem on the tank?
