Anything on knocking near or in primary case. New rider since January this year have a Clymer Manual but nothing about knocking in the primary. I think it's a loose chain. Not sure any help?

Default Need help

So was riding home from work the other day and my bike died, pulled over and started it and it got me to the commissary. Went to leave the commissary and it died again and when I turned ignition on it went into seizure mode like the battery was dead. If I leave it sit for a little while it’ll start but letting it run a while it’ll die. Tested stator reads a little above 30v ac both pins but when I start the bike and test the voltage coming back to the battery it barely stays at 13v and when I rev it won’t go above 13.6 at 2k rpms. Is it my voltage regulator? I wanna make sure before I go buying parts

Hi, for what it's worth, this sounds a lot like symptoms I was having when my battery was getting ready to die, exactly the same.

I have a brand new battery that load tested good. Bike won’t charge above 13.6 to 13.8v cleaned up my grounds yesterday the best I could with what I have. When it died the first time I brought my battery to get charged because it was dead from not charging. But I put the battery back in afterwards and it was doing the same thing and I messed with the connectors in the plastic housing right behind the engine and it started up fine. On the way home it died again so I messed with the connectors again and it started back up. I got it home and let it run and it died again and I was upset so I gave up for a little bit. Came back out to it the next day and it stayed up again. I then had no issues while testing the stator and regulator with the bike in other than the bike now charging to the amount of voltage it’s supposed too above 2k rpm’s. I rode it around the other day but kept it in higher rpm’s to keep it running and somewhat charging and it didn’t die on me but when I would cruise at lower rpm’s it would sputter once or twice and then keep going which is something the bike has done since I got it. Tested the battery when I got done riding it and it was barely at 13.2 volts. Harley is telling me that since it’s not charging right it’s my regulator because the stator puts out 32volts ac at idle. But for the other issue with the bike not starting again without me messing with those connectors they said they don’t know what that is but the bike hasn’t died since
