Hello Harley Heads. I'm in the midst of trying to put my bike back together after paint, and figured I'd do some maintenance. Someone had mentioned on here that I should change my petcock filter and remove the 2nd uni-filter and run straight fuel line. I took the old petcock out and some rust came out. I shined a light in there and it's got some areas with rust. My question is, are there any, tank rust kits? Stuff that will flush all that out, or should I look at getting another tank? POR15 has a fuel tank repair kit that I have been happy with - there are others too.

 

Soak it in white vinegar, that should get rid of the rust. Then, you can coat it or not, depending on how clean it looks.
