Default rear tire question

I need a new rear tire, 9200 miles on the stock Dunlop and there ain't much left of it. The front is still in good shape. Can I run a Metzler tire on the back and keep the stock Dunlop on the front?? Someone said mixing tire brands on a bike isn't good but I have no idea......

From searching on the forum it sounds like the Metzlers get good mileage and performance and are cheaper than stockers?? Any thoughts?

I'm doing it and having no problems. I love the metz and can't wait for the front to wear out so they match. The metz is so much nicer, the bike doesnt move around as much underneath of you.

I really think that this more or less pertains to the Sport Bike crowd were you could be at high lean angles and really depending on the tire materials a little more. The high performance tires are built to work together. It is not to say that I never had two different tires on my 600RR though, I was just more careful. As long as your not out there scrapping parts of your bike all the time you should be fine.

I'm running a Metz 880 on the rear and a Dunlop (until it wears out) on the front. I'd have to say no problem, see sig pic.

while the Metz is a way better tire, it will cost more. why not just use another 'lop till you need to replace them both.

Thanks for the feedback. From what I understand, the Metz 160 series is the same dimensions as the the Dunlop 150 series?? On this website, the 150 metz is $124.99 and the 160 is $158.99. Both are cheaper than a harley dunlop through dealer. Which size should I order?
