there was an article in American iron magazine a few months ago ( i think it was American Iron, or hot bike) where a guy took his stock exhaust and chopped off the rear tapered section of the pipe, removed the baffle, and installed Chili cans for custom baffles. (i think CA law requires that an exhaust have a baffle) i was actually thinking of doing the same next spring and taking my new exhaust off and throw on the old custom ones on just to see how it sounded, could be fun

i know a guy who has an exhaust pipe bender and i was thinking about bending new pipes using 1 3/4 pipe. hate the idea of spending hundreds of dollars for a couple pieces of pipe. if i used aluminised pipe and then wrap it in black exhaust wrap it would last for quite a while, and would look bad-azz..

The bad thing about a bender is that unless is is a mandrel bender you end up with the crinkles inside each turn (think about a muffler shop car install). If you buy a builders kit you get mandrel bent tubing without any crinkles. You just cut and tack to get the design down and then take it all off and finish weld it.

I've been thinking the same thing. Harbor Freight has a hydraulic bender for a couple hundred dollars and I could experiment with different bends to get what I want without going broke. Could use internal baffles to keep the LEO's happy, maybe use the guts out of a small auto muffler.

you cats are gonna lose a tremendous amount of torque, twice as much as if you were to just use drag bars...
