I know why you put the tank on. The stock 883 tank is the same size. They suck! No range at all. 125 MI. at best! OK if you don't leave town. Don't try to take a trip. Love the paint. Gonna do flame's like yours on my sled this year I hope (with the big tank). Best of luck, It doe's look great! See ya on the road someday......................

Keep it in the wind............

I got the tank from a wrecked bike. It had just a little ding but insurance was paying for a new one and the dealer was gonna throw this one away, so i picked it up for FREE!! And yes I did the tank swap, it was really really easy!!

Nice! I hope to one day pick up a junk bike and just start fabricating. Maybe one of the customs shops around my area (there are only 2 I believe) won't mind having me come in some days and apprentice.
Did you do the paint yourself?

Okay I've seen the tank swap. And I really like it. What about a 4.5g tank swap with DK Customs 1.5" lift, wire tuck, and coil/ign relocate?

I really want to see a nightster with a 4.5 and all the plastic and wires out of there! I'd also like to see a nightster with a round painted to match oil tank.

Never mind! just found another member with a very similar setup. Not a nightster but I imagine it'd look very similar.

hes got the 4.5g tank, lift coil relocate and wire tuck. And it looks bad ***! (But that oil tank could use some work, a chrome round one would be killer I think.)

What did it take to install the 4.5 tank? I have a 2009 Nightster that I am installing a 4.5 tank on and want to know if its a direct bolt on or do I need to do some modifications? I know that I need a different seat or need to modify the seat. Any help would be appreciated .

I took a 1700-mile round trip with mine one weekend, but I was constantly filling up.
