Default Fork oil capacity?

Hey gang.
I am going to put heavier oil in my forks on my 08 1200N.
How much do they hold?
Thanks
-Eric

I run 7w BelRay and do notice a difference, the front is much more compliant.

Wow

That much?
I have three specs now
9oz
10.5oz
12.3oz all wet

I'll take your word on it. So 30w will not help? The front end is very soft.

you can try it, but i just changed over to heavier oil and am underwhelmed by the change. my manual calls for 12.3 oz per fork for 08 xl1200n.

you might try adding a bit of preload but doing so will just pack-down the springs. the forks are too short. plain and simple.

Be careful with what the manual calls for. There are separate specs for whether you are doing a wet or dry refill. If you are just draining & refilling the tubes it takes less fluid than if you are pulling the springs or doing a rebuild on the forks.

The quantity is determined by measuring down from the top of the fork tubes to the fluid level with the springs installed.

I thought there was two different amounts Wet and Dry
I do want the Wet amount. I called Harley the guy told me 12.3oz Like you all said. He also told me to measure with weight on the forks and it should be 4.7 inches from the oil level to top of tube.
