I have the 4.5gal tank. I go about 160mi and need fuel. (Not using the reserve) Also I have never seen my low fuel light, so I wouldn't rely on that alone. I don't think mine is working.

Just checked this myself on my 2007 1200C ---- 180 miles with a lot of city driving.

+1 - I have been pushing the limits this year, and went from 100mi to 140mi between fill ups.

I've recently installed the quiet baffles on my straighshot HS slipons and noticed my gas mileage has taken a dump. With the standard baffles in, I averaged 50 miles to the gallon. With the quiet baffles in, I am averaging about 39 miles to the gallon. I use the Fuel Pak. It has me "baffled" at the moment. I'm about ready to lose the quiet ones and go back to the standard.

TIS SO , I ride semi-aggressively and look for a gas station at about every 150 miles and my 4.9 gallon tank takes right around 3.5 gallons . Have had to siphon some gas out for a member of our group that has a peanut tank though , we make more often gas stops when PEANUT is with us !

damn...you guys beat me. I can only muster around 120 miles before my light comes on and it will take around 3.2-3.5 gallons at that point. I ride it hard with mostly highway riding around 70-75 MPH. Coming home from Milwaukee on the Indiana toll rode i hit around 50 mpg but that has been the only time.

Have a 2000 with the peanut tank and always set my trip meter to 0 when I fuel up I average out around 60-63 miles per/gal. I have gone 175 mile before refueling but usually stop at 150 miles give or take. I have never (had) to stop for gas when riding with the so called "big boys" when on a trip I usually follow them into the station and fill up because they had to stop.

The 'Big Boys' (which I assume means Big Twins) also get very good mileage if in a good state of tune..

My EFI Softail (with Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner and good Dyno tune) averages right at 48 MPG, which is not much less than my 1200C.

I usually stop every 100 miles or so, but with it's 5 gallon tank it would easily run 225+ miles between fuel stops if I pushed it....

My EFI RoadKing is quite a bit heavier, but it still get around 44 MPG.

Big Twins aren't the "gas hogs" that many assume...
