Although there are many factors involved in ones fuel mileage as XLCR4GM Road Master has stated. One of the upgrades that I recently made ,was to change my gearing ( taller gearing) . I wanted my Sporty to be more highway friendly. So I changed my rear belt pulley from the stock 61 tooth to a 55 tooth pulley and my trans. drive pulley from the stock 27 tooth to a 30 tooth pulley. And it has been awesome , its almost like adding another gear. And my fuel mileage is incredible . Today my girlfriend and I went for BBQ. We fueled up next to the house, road out, ate and road half way back, before my girlfriends 2000 Kawasaki 800 Valcon had to be refueled, she said that I better get fuel to that I was probably ready to run out, we've run 93 miles. So I topped off my tank, 1.2 gallons is what it took. The road was two lane with hills and a lot of winding curves average speed limit was 55mph. Although I sometimes would exceed the posted limit, then have to slow down and let my girlfriend catch up, there were a lot of variables involved. I do admit that I lost a bit off the line( its not a racer) but what I gained on the top side is well worth it. Just a note , the highway vibrations are considerably less. Although I do not have the 55tooth part # in front of me right now, I can get it ,if anyone is interested.

Default Miles per tank?

I just took a road trip today. My mileage was 53.6 miles per gallon. My gas light came on at approximately 150 miles. I traveled 25 more before I fueled up. Praying the whole time. I have a 2007 1200c also.

The fuel light on my 883L comes on at about 160 miles at 60 mph, less at higher speeds. I haven't experimented to find out how far it will go on a tank.

I am interested in installing taller gearing, but that will have to wait for next year.

I always try to fill up around the 100 mile mark, because once that orange light comes on, there's not too much left. And always with 97 RON fuel unless I'm in a real bind and only 95 RON gnat's **** is available.

One thing I have noticed is that after my Stage One, my economy has improved, and I've been getting to as much as 110 and the light is still not coming on. I suppose I should test it to make sure the bulb hasn't failed!

My Iron 883 seems to put the low fuel light on at random! I did 118 miles the other day and it hadnt come on but then it did when I got back on the bike a couple of days later! It came on just under the 100 miles the other day and i'm now on 131 miles and need to put fuel in, but with an average of 58 mpg (imperial not US) I guess it should have a 150ish mile range?

Blimey, you're brave. I'd be sweating profusely at 131 miles!

Lol, well it holds 12.5 litres, so it'll be interesting to see how much goes in! Last time I did 139 miles and only put 10.86 litres in. My commute into London is 64 miles a day and I normally do that journey twice before filling up.

I track my fuelings with spritmonitor, which is pretty good and I can add the price of tyres , servicing etc.

I'll give that link a try and see what I'm returning. I'm on leave now and not doing my short urban commute, which helps economy.

Where are you in Essex?

My mother in law is in Billericay, and my sister is in Southend, so I know the area. Might even bump into you one day!
