883 Has more Power than I thought....
Just don't listen to all the HATERS on this forum. Usually they have avitars with half-naked chicks followed by posts that don't make any sense...a bored out 883 that smokes a 96" is gutless, a 1200 with cams and TC88 ignition module is gutless, good thing some one else wasted a bunch of time and money to figure out that the sportster is a gutless beginners bike.

Interesting...
The info I could find on the 1994 1200 sportster:
50 Horsepower peak at 5200 RPM
55.7 ftlb torque at 3600
The info I could find regarding the 1994 883 sportster:
42 horsepower peak at 5200
43.26 ftlb torque at 4400
Granted, those number do not appear to be from Harley themselves (that I know of) but, if those numbers are correct, it indeed would explain why he could not pull on me as we thought he might.
Gotta love technology. You just have to spin the motor a little longer....

My step dad has a 02 883 with stage 3 jetting and drag pipes. It runs good will go, but nothing like my 07 1200. I'm not doging the 883, but for me it's 1200 or a 96ci or larger twin.
yea dont listen to someone that has owned both bikes....and dont fully read my post dipzhit. i said, MY 02 BORED OUT 883 SMOKED A 96. a stock 883 is gutless in MY OPINION. also, due to the gearing of the 1200 being higher, i could not get the same acceleration out of it with the same jets, and cams as i could out of the 883 bored over. dont get your panties in a wad.....im just stating MY opinion
Your point is that the 1200 is geared higher than the 883, I understand that, but it is not exactly groundbreaking info. No panties, no wad, the point of the thread is that the OP, despite all of the people like you telling him that the 883 is worthless, thinks it is fun as hell. But some poeple can't say, hey man that's cool, I ride a Harley too and it's sweet. They have to post HATE, so seriously, if you don't like sportsters go post about BTs.
I agree 100% Alot of people told me not to get the 1200 since I will just want a biger bike soon. Well I have to say I love the size of the Sporty and the 1200 has good power for the type of bike is. I guess it all cmoes down to how you like to ride. For some the 883 is fine for other a 1000 super bike needs to be faster.
