Default 2002 Sportster: Bearing Sealed?

Hi Guys,

I have been looking into this and the results seem to be mixed. Can anyone tell me for sure if the bearings on my 2002 Sportster are sealed?

My bike sat for about 5 years before I bought it and while it is driving fine I do not want a bearing issue to creep up on me.

Thanks

If you are talking wheel bearings, they are sealed.

Thanks I was talking wheel bearings.

So if they are sealed, even sitting for a few years shouldn't harm them that much. I have put about 500+ miles on them since I bought the bike but I want to make sure.

They can set for a very long time and still be good, hell they probably sat on Harleys part bin for 2 years before they got used on your bike.

DO NOT use a pressure washer on or near any sealed bearings. It can seriously reduce their life expectancy.

I agree with WRAITH that you should not pressure wash around the wheel bearings as it very well might force water into the sealed bearings and cause problems later on down the road so to speak!
