I think the right amount of chrome on a bike looks nice. I do agree that Nightsters/Irons look bad *** blacked out, but prefer the look of chrome on my 1200C. I think it depends on the bike. Seeing chrome on someone else's bike is definitely not worth getting your panties in a wad over. Just my $.02
I hope to be removing the chrome fender struts/signals off my '06 1200R and replacing them with the gloss black ones from a Nighty. If any of you "chromos" want them let me know (email would be best) and let's see if we can work something out.
I do tend to agree that is seems that many do go overboard with the chrome. To each their own though. Its jsut never been my thing.
I hope to be removing some chrome off my roadie tomorrow. I'll be taking the chome stock shocks off and putting blacked out RK air shocks in theri place
I don't like chrome. Some people do. Some spend more time polishing it than riding it, but hey, if they get enjoyment out of polishing the chrome, more power to 'em! I barely even wash my bike. It'll just get dirty again tomorrow.
I just came up with this word that I will now seed into the whole site. "Blachrome" seems to be an interesting topic for Harley riders nowadays. I know they have been around forever but now the black seems to be coming into the limelight. I'm a black kinda guy myself and I probably would not have gotten a Harley so soon if it was'nt for the denim black hotness!!!
Great you have a blacked out bike like everyone else out there wants today. Next you'll be wearing bell bottoms because it the in thing to do. Fads come and go. Chrome is forever!!
I think bell bottoms are back out. They originally came back in along with disco...ironically when chrome was at it's peak. Wonder if there's a connection there...
I've always liked black(flat) and disliked chrome. The only thing I like about it being 'in' at the moment is it's easier to get things in the color I want. Otherwise, I wish it was still unpopular.
I have a blacked out bike in the garage and my RK is black and chrome....I like both. IMO a bike with tastefully done chrome is very "timeless" I do like the blacked out look, I almost blacked out the RK, but as said, it is a touch faddish. Like a bad 80s haircut. Once it goes out of "style", you have a mullet
