Default Sportster brakes = soiled underpants

So Im kinda tired of having to use my kung fu grip everytime I brake, I just dont get the sense of confidence with my front brakes. I want to use the roadsters dual rotor set up but am having a hard time finding a doner bike. has anyone upgraded their brakes in other ways and what are your results/thoughts?

+1 on the front brake.

I noticed once I changed to Magnum Shielding's braided hoses, my front brake was finally solid. My new Iron however still has OEM brakeline and is soft as hell, just like my other two scoots before I went to new lines.

My fix for my Iron is to first try new braided line....will let you know.

I've got braided lines on my '09 Iron and it certainly helped, still not as good as I would like it but definitely better.

Braided lines will definitely help. Another cheap improvement is to change out the OEM pads for aftermarket. Opinions will vary here but I like the EBC HH Sintered pads.

Yeah the brakes suck on the Sportys for sure. You should be me and get off the Z1000 that has good brakes and then jump right on the Sporty and about have to drag you feet to stop LOL! I have rode other Sportys and they are the same way or worse then my bike and all had fine working brakes-well you know what I mean-not bad parts. You might want to look on JP Cycle and they have brake upgardes for the Sportys on there that are bolt on's

I am used to the sporty brakes, I didn't realize how bad they were till I almost put myself over the handle bars on my buddy's GSXR.

I have the 883r.It came with dual front brakes. They work great. I have actually got the rear tire off the ground when hitting them too hard. I don't know how hard it is to convert to dual brakes but it is probably worth it.

Harley has a dual front brake set-up. On my Sportster,('02, 883R) I went with some Barnette braided lines, world of difference.

Are you guys using the rear brake at all?
The bikes are designed to use both, not just all up front braking.

I don't have any issues with braking, I use both front and rear equally.
But then again I've only ridden my bike and never anything else.
Maybe ignorance is bliss.

My 99 1200S has the dual front brakes and I have no problem stopping.
