Default Touch-up paint for Nightster engine

I'm having a heckuva time trying to find textured gray touch-up paint for a Nightster engine. I've called the dealer, and Harley apparently doesn't make it -- which I can hardly believe. I only need enough to cover a spot about half the size of a dime. I'd like it textured because there is a bit of a gouge. Spray paint doesn't seem to be the answer.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?

I'd mix a bit of sawdust or sand with some black paint to recreate the texture in the gouged spot. Once that's dry, paint the whole engine black with rattle can high temp, the Nightster looks much better with a black motor IMHO and it will be easy to touch up later if necessary.

Smile paint

My buddy I ride with has a Nighty with that "flat grey" paint. He washed his bike with something that stained the air cleaner. He took it to the stealer and they painted it for him right there. Get this, NO CHARGE. He was happy. So I'm thinking that your stealer should be able to get the paint for you. Ride safe.

Hey, that's just a term of endearment -- like calling your wife "Stinky." You've just gotta say it with a smile on your face. Done it for years. There was an "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode about the same thing a few years ago.

That said, Harley must have changed their policies. I had the same problem with my air cleaner, and started a thread on that subject years ago. Harley knew the cause, but didn't accept responsibliity.

I ended up spray-painting my air cleaner black -- which I like better anyway -- but I don't want to repaint my whole engine. And, unlike the air-cleaner problem, this is my fault, not theirs. It's more of a tiny gouge. I don't even know how I got it.

Let me know if you find something, I know Harley doesn't make touch up paint because Harley engines don't have paint on them, it's really cheap powdercoat.
My wife has bad boot marks on her primary that won't come off and there is a chip on one of her cyliner heads that both need touchup and I've not been able to find anything in 5 years.

I found a guy on eBay that supposedly has something. I haven't been able to reach him by phone so far, only email. Here are some replies to my email:

FIRST REPLY: You need Textured Medium Gray. I don't have it, but I can get it for $12.95 + $2.99 freight. Call me if you would like it. Andy or Ted 715-878-4800

SECOND REPLY: I just got a shipment in of about 300 new bottles. If I recall correctly, I think I have that paint color. Something like High Temp Medium Gray. I will let you know on Monday. All of my touch-ups are new touch-ups are being listed for $11.99+2.50 freight. That will be the price if I have it. If I don't, I will have to find the price, but it will be upward of $25 if I have to get it in special for you. Andy

If you have any luck reaching him, please let me know.

Here's a link to another product he had for sale. He's sold lots of stuff, and has good feedback. I just wonder why he can get the touch-up paint and I can't seem to get it from my local dealer.
