Default DOT 4 for 2009 Iron 883n?

I'm adding new Joker Machine JX controls and a Magnum front brake line to my 883n. The old MC cover says DOT 4 but the Clymer Sportster (2004-2009) manual says DOT 5 everywhere in the brake chapter. I mean every other sentence says DOT 5 and there is no mention of DOT 4.

I figure I should stick with what's on the MC cover, but it's still a bit unclear. Even searching in the forum brought up mixed answers.

Any ideas?

The MoCo switched back to DOT 4 several years ago, I think in 06. ALWAYS use what's listed on the master cylinder cap.
