Default Tank bra, a good idea?

Getting me a drag bar to my Nightster and I´m afraid to scratch the tank. Is a tank bra a good idea? I have looked around a little bit and some say it does more damage than good. What are you opinions? Where can I by one? Any of you have pics? I think it looks good on the Nightster.

Thanks

It will do more damage than good.

Especially if you have flat paint.

No good will come of it.

You are far better off just being careful with what you wear and how close it comes to the tank. No big metal belt buckles etc.

There are alot of threads on this. From all this they do the very thing they claim to prevent. Worst thing to install on your bike unless you like the looks of it.

I had one on my bike. It didn't do any damage, but the strap that goes under the tank got worn out. It is elastic, but after being streched out it didn't keep its elasticity. It would just flap in the wind, so I got rid of it.

But as for damaging the paint, it didn't do that. When I did get rid of it I just washed and polished the tank, and it looked good as new.

Bras are for women not bikes. They trap dirt under them, add some water, instant deep scratches. You can get a paint protection kit. It's a clear vinyl sheet that cling to the paint with out glue.

I've had mine for all last riding season. I likes it on my Nightster and it hasn't had any effect on the silver and black denim paint. they aren't for everyone but I like it so far!

Why are u afraid that a drag bar will come in contact with the tank. I've got the shortest bar you can buy (to the best of my knowlege) and all my housings clear the tank...not by much tho. it u get 32's u won't have to worry. But I've got 24's with bo problem.

Um, I think he is taking about his midsection at the back of the tank by the seat.

Thanks for your replies. Maybe I´ll spend some cash on powder coating instead
