Default replacing derby cover

I recently purchased a new derby cover and wanted to switch it out when I changed the primary oil. I had just drained the primary when I noticed that I need to remove my left foot peg bracket to get to one of the Derby screws. Not having the right tool I just refilled the primary. After thinking about it, if I leaned my bike say a few degrees back, would this hurt anything internally?

Ok, I"m a little slow on the uptake. What good would tilting the bike back do to make the derby cover go on any easier than if the bike were on the jiffy stand or a rack? This is just me, but think about going up a steep hill I don't think you will do damage.

A good set of tools in invaluable in doing any work. I got a 42 peice set of allen\torx and other goodies for $49 at Sears.

Good luck!

if you hold the bike upright you should be able to remove the cover without losing any fluid if this is what your referring to.

Tools and a manual will take you along way in the care and maintenance of your bike

If your going to replace your derby cover why not just change the primary oil as well it's just 1 quart
