I want the handlebars on my iron in a more comfortable position. I am debating between mini apes or different drag bars with more pull back to them and/or risers.
I had drag bars on my bike on top of 9" risors, they looked great and were alot more comfortable after I raised them, butttttttttt, I love the 'Easy Rider' look so I recently put mini apes on my bike, I love it with the apes, they feel great just cruising down the highway at 60-65 mph...
I think it depends upon your personal preferences and physical size. I love my drag bars and just didn't care for the stock and buckhorn style. Mini apes would work for me but I wanted a lower profile look on the front end. You can add enough rise and pullback with drag bars if necessary if your reach is short. I would just go to the dealer and sit on a few bikes with both styles (dynas, softails, and sporties) until you find a set you like and then try to incorporate that feel into your bike, IMO.
I chose to go with the black 10' mini apes as my personal preference for both fit and look. I also changed the grips to the comfort HD grip and am pleased.

Looking for some opinions. Thanks.
How much pullback do you have now? Are you running stock bars? I've heard that 4 to 5 degrees of pull is pretty good for guys of average height (5 8" - 5 10"), but I think anything less would require quite a stretch.
Didn't care for the Black 10" Mini Apes that came on my 99 Sportster, just didn't feel like I would have full control in a tight situation and I prefer chrome over black. Went back with a set closer to stock, a bit narrower and not as much backward rake.
