I did the quiet baffles in Straight Shots. While a little quieter, the biggest difference was that the 'slap' sound was gone on acceleration. Long story short, it was still too loud for what I was looking for, and I changed to SE SP's. Those put the volume at the level I was looking for.

I had the Short Shots on my Iron a while back. They were LOUD, so I put on Big City Thunder QQ baffles. It turned them down a bit and made it sound more throaty. I now have Supertrapp 2:1's and they are really quiet.

Same story here as the general consensus. I have the sideshots, and put the quiet baffles in. Maybe a little quieter, but not much. What it DID do though was take the harshness out, and give it a much deeper and more rounded out tone. I think it sounds much better, more beefy, and a higher quality note. Still loud though, but not nearly as annoying.

Default Update

My buddy installed quiet baffles on his Iron yesterday... much better now, deep and beefy sound, but not that loud..more pleasant to ride! But I still have my thoughts on Shortshots... killer look but definately not a Harley sound! I know that EFI models have lost something of that famous "potato-potato" thing...but these exhausts completely destroy that famous sound! But again, this is a matter of personal taste! For me, the best Harley sounding exhaust update is the good, old SE mufflers! Are they still on production? Haven't found any... Not the Street (Legal) Performance but the old ones... Possibly under another brand name?

I installed the V&H slip-ons last week and they are VERY loud too. Although I don`t mind the sound I am worried about the noise tickets and with you all saying the baffles don`t make much of a difference I don`t know what to do.

Take the baffels out. My Matin Bro's pipes were loud with the baffels in and I took them out and WOW I love it even more.

If anyone is still interested in finding out what these quiet baffles sound like heres a link to a blog that gets into it. There is also a video that gives you an idea of what to expect during and after the installation...

I installed the V&H slip ons. They are loud, but not too loud. Prior to that, I called the V&H company. The tech told me stock pipes are 80db, and slip ons are 93-96db.
