Headlight question
Hey just wondering how to go about putting a fatboy headlight on the 48, i know marksbob has done it, but im wondering if its a direct swap out for each headlamp or do i need anything else to make it work. Do wires have to be cut? Ultimately if its a pain in the *** to do can i just take it to the dealer and tell them to do it? And if i go that route should i purchase the headlamp before hand or just buy from the dealer? What is the best way to accomplish this mission
been thinking of doing this myself however the dealer price on the HD is frightening, have to wait for a secondhand one.
the shop is going to charge you a fontune for the swop can't you attempt it yourself?JMO

I am not sure how a fatboy headlight differs, but I bought a 7" headlight from ebay for $51. I switch my 08 Nightster headlight to a 7" headlight for a different and brighter look. Switch would have been easy, but I couldn't get the leads off the headlight plug, so I had to cut the wires to pull them out the back and resolder them onto the new 7" wiring. The nightster mounts with 2 allen screws on top, where as my 7" is bottom mount on a 3/4" block. Only thing left to do was to drill a 5/16" hole in the middle of the triple tree for the bolt to go thru. After that, tighten every thing and adjust and you done. No need for a harley shop to do it for you, save some bucks for something else. Just my thoughts...
ps I sanded the chrome down and painted it black to match rest of bike.
