Default Should I put forwards on my Iron?

I think I want to put forwards on my Iron, but I remember a thread awhile back called "Anyone go back to mids" and now I am worried I will invest $400.00 to $500.00 into in and won't like it.

Anybody have experience going from mids to forwards?

Personally, I think fwd's are better riding position. It's more natural & comfortable. Have you tried sitting on Sporty w/fwd's? Go to dealer & you'll definitely see/feel the difference.

Also, post in parts wanted - you might get them cheaper from someone who converted back...

Also remember. The number of people goping "to" forward controls, versus the number going "back" to mids is staggering. Many, many people go to forwards. Only a very few go back to mids.
But yea, go sit on one at a dealer...even ask for a test ride if available. Or find a buddy with forwards and check that out.
Also, what type of handlebars you have makes a difference. If you have clip ons, or low, short drags, then forwards may not feel as comfortable.

I was gonna suggest what kahone said and go to a dealer and see if you can test ride a bike similiar to yours except with forward controls.

I went to forwards. I have no desire to go back to mids. I did it to give them a try, and it really opens up the room on the sporty. The forwards aren't really that far forward as they are on other models. I don't think you will be disappointed. Mids just always seemed to be in the way, even more so riding 2up.

I ran mids on the Nightster for about a year,as I'd only ridden bikes with mids and clip-on's before. The mids giving you the alternative of kicking a foot back onto the passenger pegs for a change in stance. However with a passenger on the back on longer rides I felt a little cramped,so I put on the forwards. It's not a racing stance and standing up on the pegs to adjust the jewels is no longer an option ,but I quite like it
...and don;t think I;ll switch back to mids.

Me, too.

I've had both over the years, and forwards have their place, but they don't belong on a motorcycle that is ridden anywhere but on the interstates.

Bought forwards, ran them a season. Have been back on mids for a season and am not planning on changing again.

So sell them to the OP. My custom came with forwards. I finally put mids on this fall. I'll stay with the mids.
