Forty-Eight tank Re-do

I've had my 48 barely a week and the tank is already off and at the painters getting stripped, repainted and pinstriped.
Nothing against Sportsters as I've had two of them in the past, but I absolutely despise the humongous SPORTSTER logo that covers the entire side of the little 2.1 gallon tank on the 48.
If Harley was trying to capture the essence of a '50's bobber, what the hell were they thinking? The big logo looked stupid on 1970 Sportsters and looks even stupider on the 48. At least that is my opinion...YMMV.
As others have said in another thread, maybe Harley did this to sell a bunch of the pricey metalflake tanks they are offering. $400 + $100 to strip the existing tank + a 13 week wait...that's what the dealer told me as he was trying to get me to buy the 48 on the showroom floor that had a $1200 upcharge (!!!) for a metalflaked Nightster tank. No thanks.
Anyway, that's why some of us are repainting our tanks. I'll post some pics when I get the tank back on the bike.

Its a sticker...the tank is painted, the sticker is applied, and then it's all clearcoated over.
ETA: I plan to have my tank painted...but Im not sure how and what colors. I want to stay with something sorta old school and traditional. Perhaps a black tank with gold leaf scallops.
