Ride what you like, ride what you can afford. If you have money to buy right now tho, spend some time on Craigs list. Lots of super deals there on Harley's. I don't look much at the metrics on Craigs list but I'd imagine they have they same type of deals out there. It's tough to compare a Honda to a Harley on a Harley forum! Have you asked the same question on the Honda forum??

Honda automobiles are great. Their sport bikes are amazing. But, when it comes to cruisers, they just don't seem to get it right. I think the best thing they had was the old sabre which worked because it was basically a Fat Boy knock off. However, the LEDS were pretty cool.
The biggest issues with the Spirit is that it is real under-powered (with no way of really changing it) and I really hate the front turn signal bar.

the only metric cruisers I really like are the Yamahas.. Hondas are very dependable, much like their cars, but most just don't feel right.. I think the best Honda cruiser is the VTX1300. And the Suzuki Cruisers are so uncomfortable to me. Kawasakis, the many didn't really seem like cruisers, more like standards with bump seat and pullback handlebars, the bigger Vulcans are decent, but still not as comfortable as the Yamahas.
Over all when I bought my Sportster I was looking at the Yamaha V-stars, I thought they were a little better bang for the buck, but thought the new Sportsters were nice enough to be worth the extra to get an American made product. In years past I did not always think that.

You must be talking about the older Shadow Sabre, not the original Sabre. The original Sabre was a liquid-cooled V4 standard.

But yes. I have heard they are grossly underpowered.

This was the original Sabre:
Liquid-cooled, V4, six-speed, shaft-drive. Nice bike.
