really want to run a 2 into 1 i love the sound they produce think ill get new o2s that way i can swap my homebuilts out any time i want,,, any comments on the blackout my buddy has one the quality kinda sucks but the price is right plus i can see some modifications in the future using that header pipe

 

Those are pretty sick! Also would you mind posting pics of your headlight and how it mounts to your tree and what you used? I'm looking to do something like that.

 

its just your typical lower tree headlight mount i just flipped it and ground it down so it would clear the lower tree

 

Those would look nuts with some flappers, like on tractor trailer stacks.

 

I agree 100%. just keep the pipes you have and add falppers.

 

I do like the look of the home built pipes that are on the bike . I really wish that HD offered a 2 into 1 pipe for the sportster like they do for the Dyna. I think that style is much better than the stock Sportster pipes.

 

If I'm not mistaken, your pipes are modified Vance & Hines Short Shots...if that's the case then you are 3/4's of the way to having Blackout 2 into 1's. They are simply Short Shots that are connected.

Here's your bike back in the day...maybe get a better idea by seeing your pipes without the upsweeps.




Auto Zone has exhaust tips that are 1 into 2. They work perfect for making 2 into 1 pipes that are dual 1.75" to a single 2.25" out. From there you can do a slip on or a simple 2.25" tube to finish it off.

I used that tip on these pipes I made for my Suzuki but I finished it off with an old school Cherry Bomb.





I say make your own man.

You can obviously make a cool set of pipes. Save some coin.

i second the motion on the use of flappers......the pinging sound they make as they clang off the top of the pipe is priceless. although, if you did a 2 into 1 keep the slip on in an upsweep motion, that would look dope as **** too. either way, bad *** fvcken ride!
