Default Just bought my first Motorcycle! XL1200s

Hi everyone. I just bought my first bike and figured I'd join here and introduce myself. Name's Tim, I'm 19 and from upstate NY. Bike is a 1996 Harley 1200 Sporster Sport. Great shape with 6000 miles! Here's a pic:

I don't think the owner knew that it was a sport and I am hoping I got a good deal for $3500. Let me know what you think. I'm completely new to motorcycles. Took a 3 day course last weekend to get my license and did the best in the class of 12 with only 1 point deducted on my road test! This is exactly the kind of bike I was looking for, so excited to be riding it home this week!

-Tim

I think you got lucky and got a 1200 with out the adjustable front and rear suspension. I know they were available in 1997. The most brutal ride on any bike, bar none.

You did well on the price.

Good luck

that looks like a nice bike. you got a heck of a deal on it 6000 miles for only $3500! wow man, congrats! you'll love it, i can't get enough. i live in northwestern pa about an 1 1/2 from erie. sucks that we have to sit around through winter. it is still to cold to ride and i have an itch it get out there! get a different seat, it'll do a world of wonders for it. believe it or not, it will give it a totally different look. see you on the road! fists to the wind, ride safe bud!

Thanks for the responses! I just can't wait to get it back home. Definitely is a sport because the of the rear shocks and I remember seeing the fronts ones being adjustable as well.

My Thanks go out to the instructors at the New York State Motorcycle Safety School, they were some awesome instructors to work with and taught me so much. This was the only motorcycle I've ridden besides the 125cc bikes they supply at the course. When I got on this harley I did everything the same and saved myself from any embarrassment.

Found two nice articles on this bike, anyone interested may take a look:
