Default Tank removal

I need to remove my tank. I searched the forum but really didnt find a direct how to...

I guess what i need to know is, do I unscrew the wire harness and the hose that goes from the tank to the injectors from the tank? wont gas spill everywhere? (i guess thats a pretty dumb question)

also, it looks like there are some green gaskets where the harness and tank meet...do I need to get new ones from the moco if i remove it? any help is greatley appreciated!

thanks in advance!

To remove the tank, follow the pump wire harness down next to the battery cover and unplug and pull the clip holding the wires out of the plastic wire cover, remove the vent tube from the bottom of the tank then for the fuel line, pull down on the ring at the end of the hose and pull the hose off of the pump (it's just like a air hose coupling). unbolt the tank and remove. when you disconnect the fuel line you may get a few drops of fuel but it won't come running out of the tank. I suggest putting a rag under that connection when removing the fuel line. Replacement is reversal of removal. Nothing to buy or replace to remove the tank.

Default Howzit

As mentioned by previous poster, unclip fuel line and pull off the overflow pipe.Loosen bolts at header and seat side,And off it comes.
I take it you are removing the tank for a respray? to do the tanklift and wire tuck you dont have to remove the rear bolt seat side you just lift it and support it with a pice of wood.H

yessir im respraying. I posted up in another thread about a rattle can paint job. decided to do it and was talked in to getting the real stuff by an usher at my church who happens to own the paint shop lol. I'm glad did it though. Its coming out nicely.

I'm gonna do a wire tuck now that you mention it. Not big on tank lifts but we'll see what ideas the wind blows in..

Since you are removing for paint, I take it that you are removing the pump for the paint job, and yes, there is a gasket that should be replaced between the pump and the tank.

I'd pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it over to relieve fuel system pressure prior to removing the fuel line.
