Mid or Forward Controls / Handlebars
Hi! I just got a '94 883XLH with mid-controls. My previous metric VLX bike has forward controls and looks great with your legs stretch forward. Now, I would like to get your views on:
1) whether it would be wise to convert my sportster from mid to forward controls?
2) need to move stock handlebar nearer via pullback risers + dragbar or apes or other bars?
Your suggestions and/or recommendations is very much appreciated before I spend $$$.

I've got forward controls on my '05 883C; I like them, they're comfy, but you can't really stand on them when you get into the bumps. More like you have to pull yourself up with your handlebars. If possible, keep your mids for controls and add some forwards for cruising.
As for the bars, I can't help you. Try some out, I suppose.

I have forwards on mine ,and I dont seem to have much trouble lifting my butt off the seat over the big bumps. As for bars, I prefer drag bars. I find them comfortable and they give my sporty a chopper like feeling when i ride it. Apes seem to me like they would be a bit sketchy when trying to pull a U-ey(is that a word?) at slow speeds.

RE: Mid or Forward Controls / Handlebars
I've got a 1200 Custom with forward controls. Took it in for first service the other day and they gave me a 1200 low with mid controls. I'm 5 11 and on that bike I was most uncomfortable - the only forgiving point was that the handlebars and mirrors were well positioned for me.
