I try to start my 2007 1200 Custom and when I insert the key, I am getting the 4-way flashing of the turn signals...I've read my manual but have no idea what's going on? I am unable to start the motor...I push the fuel starter button and I can hear an odd noise that usually doesn't sound like it starting. It is a little higher pitched. Then when I push the start button it doesn't turn over. Battery is good...I'm thinking it is the security system...?

 

...now I think the flashin stopped but the motor won't turn over. It has gas, I can hear the fuel pump priming and it sounds better now...not sure what the issue could be. It just isn't turning over at this point.


ETA: no, the flashing is continuing..I think the security system is not letting it start maybe? I have the manual and everything I am doing is not working..

And after you get the battery it would be good to set up your pin so that you can disarm the security system without the fob. This has saved me before.

 

Well done! You should have two fobs, so change the batteries in both! Your manual tells you to change them every year, although that seems a bit often to me. I've just changed them both for my 2011 bike for the first time. Yes, one of them had died.......
