Default Factory Security System Failure (help)

My '07 RKC won't start. It's as if the security fob isn't telling the system to disarm. I tried my spare and nothing. Is there something I can do or do I have to trailer it to the dealer?

how about some more information? what is it doing? you say 'won't start', but does it turn over? have you checked your (bike's) battery voltage? are the cables secure? what have you done?

do you know the override code for your fob?

more info please!

Did you try a new battery in the fob? That's where I'd start. Started noticing that one of my fobs wasn't working too well, but the other one was. Decided to switch out BOTH batteries......prob solved. Oh, and if you have your original owners manual there is a section on starting your ride without the fob......complicated, but it works. Involves pressing the left and right turn signal buttons is a referenced sequence......more hassle than it's worth, so that's why I replaced the batteries in the fob. Bottom of the fob has a slot in it. Stick a coin in there and twist to the right or left and it'll pop open. Take the old battery to Wally world or your store of choice, and pick up a replacement. Mine's a 08 Roady, and I've already replaced the batteries once. Told myself, self, cahnge those batteries at the start of each riding season! Hope this helps.

Trippy, I think you are right. I bet it's the fob's batteries. Yesterday when I went to leave for work, the security system was acting "funny" because it took a few minutes for the blinking lights to stop before I could get the starter to kick in. I'm going to try the manual override and see what happens (if I can find that dang code I wrote down 3 years ago).

if its your security system, then just replace the battery in the fob. its a #2032. and just so you don't get in this boat

learn how to use the override sequence. it really is pretty easy, takes maybe all of 15 seconds.

and if you do replace your battery, the manual will tell you how to retrieve your code, easier than tearing the house up looking for the piece of paper you wrote it down on 3 years ago!
