Default Thin DOT helmet

I’m looking for a new, basically flat black DOT helmet. I think it may be an age old issue but I’m hoping someone has a good product to suggest. I hate the “mushroom” look of most helmets. I’ve looked at all of the HD helmets at the stealership but all have the big bad. Is there anything out there that will give me the DOT protection but have a pad of an inch or less?

HD helmets have a "big pad" not big "bad" typo.

Well.....peronally don' like the "melonhead" look either, but some States I ride in , ya gotta have it.....I think the light'st, strong'st bucket that I could wear comfortable is HD's Carbon Fibre ....Spoiler series....don't really make ya look like a "melonhead".....noth'n gonna give the profile of a leather/cloth scullcap,though,.......

There was a whole long thread on this. Here's what I learned from it the other night.

At the moment I also have the HD's Carbon Fibre ....Spoiler series and it doesn't ride back on your head in the wind. But I'm going to buy one or the other from the links I posted above also.

Look at the HCI DOT 100. I looked at lots of helmets before buying this one. I have it in glossy black and it doesn't give me a shroom head. They carry it in flat black too.

These guys make the shizz! I'm going to try to talk them into "DOT" status on their "Daffy" kayak helmet. I currently ride with a "Sweet" "Strutter which is quite like the Head Trips-Daffy model. It's the only brain bucket I've used since I got back on a scoot. Mine is a clear carbon look. They do various colors as well. I believe Head trips will finish a helmet in any color you wish.
This is a link to the Sweet helmet I am currently using and love.

It may not be DOT, but I know from kayaking and slamming the rocks, that both brands hold up better than any motorcycle specific helmet I have ever seen. Mine has of yet to show any damage whatsoever from the rocks. My head either!
Both are much lower profile as well having a different type of insulating material in them. Read up and enjoy the resulting satisfaction of having one of the lightest, lowest profile helmets on the market. And the bill on them is great for shedding the sun out of your eyes.
My $0.03

When I tried to get the price to show up it said to call for a quote. Available to dealers only.
