When trailering a bike with a security system what do you do to disable the security and stop the lights from flashing. I dont want the battery to go dead.
ih the older secuiysystem haing he buttonon the fob, simply disable secuity when trailrng. For th newe no button Fob, place the fob somewhere on the bike during the trip. Basically needsto be lose enoug to allow starting. FYI, if the battery is low, thelights will still flash stop and flash from timeto time. My '13 Fob hd a weak battery. Picked it up in January and at times I noticed te lights would flash during the trailer ride to Daytonain March. Stopped along the way at a deaership changed the Fob battery, threw the Fob back in the trunk and coninued rip without flashng.

Just putting the fob near the bike won't work. It will still go off. Happened to me while going down I-40 throughout the mountains of North Carolina. Fortunately I realized it before the battery went dead or I got pulled over by a state trooper. There is a specific procedure to put the alarm system in transport mode. It's in the owners manual and probably also the service manual. I'd post it but I don't have access to either at the moment

You don't need to have the FOB on your bike when trailering.
You need to put the security system in "Transport" mode.
To enter transport mode:
1. Turn IGN key to ON and set OFF/RUN switch to OFF
2. Turn IGN key to ACC
3. Press both turn switches. Turn signals will flash once.
4. Turn IGN to OFF. The system responds with 3 turn signal flashes.
To exit transport mode:
1. With FOB present, turn IGN to ON.
2. Set OFF/RUN switch to RUN to exit transport mode.

That sounds so simple, Why didn't that dealership I stopped at know this? They changed my battery and I went on like everything was OK, knowing it isn't OK to leave the keys with the bike being trailered.
