Default Alarm/Anti-theft system problems

2011 Street Bob

Last weekend I wanted to go for a ride but my bike would not start. As soon as I inserted the key and turned it to the “Start” position, the dealer-installed alarm chirped, and then a few seconds later the alarm started going off. Figuring the battery on the fob was dead, I replaced it with a new one. That didn’t fix the problem because when I inserted the key and turned it to the “Start” position, the alarm chirped. A few seconds later the alarm starting going off again.

I bought the bike used from an independent dealer so I don’t have any of the paperwork that lists the PIN to override the alarm. I’ve already contacted him in hopes of contacting the original owner, but that was a dead end. I called my local HD dealership, but it was a Sunday so the service department was closed. I talked to the parts department manager and she suggested that the PIN might be the dealer default, 11111 or 12345. I tried both values to no avail.

I don’t have the owner’s manual for the bike, but I do have the service manual and I found the section with instructions about how to reset the PIN by switching the bike on, then off, then on, then off, then on, and the depressing the left turn signal 3 times and then the right turn signal twice. (I think that was the right order). That didn’t work either.

I disconnected the battery, but when I did that, it set off the alarm because the back-up alarm battery kicked in. It didn’t turn off until I reconnected the battery. I put in some earplugs and disconnected the battery again. I was able to locate the alarm siren/backup battery unit and remove it and disconnect that battery. Obviously that disabled the alarm siren, but the anti-theft system is still enabled because it flashes the turn signal lights and disables the starter. I retried the dealer default override PIN codes, and they didn’t work.

I located the integrated Security Sensor and Turn Signal Module; I removed it and tried to start the bike. No luck. At this point I’m out of ideas. I want to get the bike started and ride-able long enough to ride it to the local HD dealer and have everything reset. Any help is appreciated.
