Question What battery do you use.

What battery do you use on your bike. I still have the factory battery in my '06 XL1200C and it is getting a little long in the tooth.

I would like to upgrade to a battery with more amperage capacity that will still fit in the original location.
Thanks.

Stock HD is as good as any & readily available @ HD. Buy online & you'll pay hefty price for shipping (weight).

Stock, for a great reason! When I bought the bike, it had a replacement OEM batt. in it. The thing took a dive five and a half months later, and I prepared to buy myself a $150 battery. Took a look at the label, and it was apparently replaced JUST before I bought the bike, and was two days within the six month non-prorated warranty. My luck NEVER runs this way... should have gone straight to my local gas station and played the lottery!

My original battery lasted 10.5 years. It got replaced with another stocker HD battery from the dealer. The original was still able to start the bike, but just putting out slower cranks. Oh, and it was never on a tender.

This is one rare case, that I go with HD. Seems to be the best available.

May as well go with stock. It's all about how you care for them.

I myself suck with batteries. I've gone through two in less than two years.

I got my last one from Batteries Plus, working great so far. They are only a few battery manufactuers in the US, they just put different labels on them.

It was finally time to replace my Sporty's original HD battery because it would occasionally hesitate while turning over the engine on the compression stroke. And it was getting steadily worse; Not a good thing to deal with this winter.

East Penn / DEKA makes the original equipment AGM batteries for Harley Davidson. They also make the BatteriesPlus Extreme X2Power series for our Sportys.

Since I have a BatteriesPlus close by, and since they offer a 2 year warranty, I bought their X2-14L and put it in the Sporty yesterday.
WOW! With the new X2 the engine instantly spun up and started before what seemed like a full turn. Every start since then has been the same: hit the button and the motor's running NOW. Sort of makes me feel like a dumbass for waiting so long to replace the original.

Note: The Sporty's charging system had checked out good, but recently the OEM battery would only hold about 80% of full charge. Took it to BatteriesPlus and had them do a load check and it passed but was barely marginal.

I have read over on the XLForum, that the HD batteries are Deka batteries. if so, you can save some money buying a Deka and get the same performance.
