National Cycle Deflector Screen DX - Install
I just received my National Cycle Deflector Screen DX. However, the brackets are impossible to assemble, because the parts do not fit together. I'm so disappointed with the craftsmanship of this product. Sending it back.

I'm just mad that I need to address the poor craftsmanship of this product. I really want to send this back to try to deliver a message to National Cycle that they need to do a better job. But, I'll probably calm down tomorrow morning and fix it myself.

The image below is the upright halfway inserted into the clamp. I'll hit it in there tomorrow morning with the hammer.

I ate a Snickers bar, put on a pair of gloves and got those uprights onto the clamps. I guess I just needed to man-up.
I then popped the assembled uprights and clamps onto the screen.
The next step is to attach the pivot mount onto the handlebars. I think I will stop for the night and finish Saturday morning.

I think you will be happy with the end result! I have the same screen and it has been great. Keeps the wind off the torso, adjustable, and easily removable.
I tapped the uprights in with a rubber mallet if I remember correctly. Now that they are in there I think you will find the tight fit to be a positive instead of a negative!
Enjoy!

I got the same shield earlier this Summer and had the same problem. I ended up tapping the pieces together with a hammer. They did loosen up enough to allow some rotation in order to get it positioned where I wanted it.
Once I had the angle adjusted, it works really well, I don't ride without it when it's under 55 degrees.
