If they are the Knitted Wire Exhaust Seals then you are fine, they are simalar to the Harley SE gaskets.

Default exhaulst gaskets

Hey guys
I just finished up changing out my old cam plate and tensioners on my 2005 tc88. I used the screaming eagle kit with new primary cam sprokets and chain and a high volume oil pump. The bike has 24,500 miles on it and the cam chain tensioners looked suprisingly well, but after reading so many horror stories about the tc88's grenading because of the old designed tensioners, it seemed like the thing to do.

Anyway I didn't mean to steal the post. My exhaulst gaskets look like shreadded steel wool in places, and in other places it still looks like a solid ring of metal. I was trying to remove them with needle nose plyers and the material just shredded apart. Do any of you know any trick on how to remove the gaskets from the jugs.
Thanks Much; John Wilson flstni

Me too worked very well. As far as the shredded wheat gasket I had one that was bad and I used a small flat screwdriver and pry out a part of it. Then I grabbed the part that was out with the pliers and just pulled it out.
