l know sometimes HD's site gives you the availability to download instructions. did the lamp have that option? worst case l'd say the rear fender may have to come off, which isn't that bad of a job.

I put taillight on my 08 Nightster. Took about 30 minutes. Best way to do it is to jack the bike up so there is more room between the fender and tire. No need to take anything but the seat off.

Easy install, put one on the wifes 48. 2 observations, be sure the underneath of the rear fender where the light mounts is really really clean. It mounts with double-sided tape and before i started i cleaned the foam off that was leftover when i removed the original reflector with goo-gone. Then when that was all off i scrubbed it with rubbing alcohol and also make sure the underneath is clean where ur gonna mount the wire clips which are included in the kit. Also the tape thats on the light itself sticks well but the tape thats on the clips suck, i had red 3M tape in my toolbox so i just replaced the tape on the clips with the red 3M

How is the wiring? plug and play or do you have to hack and splice??

I'm all for plug and play but really, just make your own. I did for my 1999...shouldn't be hard to figure out.

A $3.00 light off eBay and some ShooGoo...hell of a lot cheaper than what the MoCo wants for theirs.

Default LED Taillight

Great post! really helpful for me. One last question. How about fuses? is there a need to replace a main fuse? Thanks

No need to add/replace any fuses - the MoCo one comes with all the necessary connectors - no splicing, just make sure you connect the wires to the wire clips properly. It really looks great.
