Try this. Find a pump with 3 hoses. Each hose dedicated to an octane rating. If the pump only has one hose your getting what's in the hose from the last customer. My millage drops when I don't use 91. I get high 40 in town and low to mid 50 on the road. 1200R

I have an '09 XL883C with just over 17,300 miles on it. Consistently getting 56 MPG on the highway. Low 50's in town. Been this way from the start.

If this is a brand new bike, perhaps the rings haven't worn in yet? I'd wait till it's broken in a bit and then make your calculations.

I've got a 1991 883 with Stage 1, and I get 50 mpg just cruising around town, and I'm not meek with the throttle.

i always put 93 octane gas, i wish i can get it just to 40mpg. took it to 2 different dealerships (still under warranty) and they both said there was nothing wrong with my bike. i tend to drive it hard at all times, but even when i baby it i never go over 35 mpg!
oh well, it could be worse

2003 XL1200C here ....consistent 40's MPG. Something isn't right if you really are getting 23MPG.

Put the bike on a stand....are the brakes dragging??

Bike has 2000 miles on it. I can hear the brakes dragging but not enough to do anything.

Yeah, that's completely unacceptable. I'd be pissed. Take it back to the dealer and have them do something about it.

My dyna, which has a bigger motor and is heavier all around, gets about 36-37 MPG in city.
