Default V&H Quiet Baffles

did anybody use V&H quiet baffles on their Sportsters? especially on the ShortShots Staggered and SideShots types of V&H. will they do a good job reducing the sound? can anybody tell the difference in a percentage? will the sound becomes too quiet so it's closer to the stock?

Regards.

bought them but by the time i got around to the install i had fallen in love with the sound of the pipes... so my suggestion is to ride without the baffles for a few weeks before you decide to do the install.
yes, i have to push the bike out to the street if its early in the morning, and yes i love to ride through parking lots of cages with sensitive alarms... and most importantly- my wifes bike has quiet pipes. cages are always puliing in front of her. never on mine. i know its a personal decision, but mine was to keep the stock v&h sound.

I can't speak from personal experience, but from the Youtube videos and comments here - the quiet baffles don't make it much quieter. It's still extremely loud. However, the sound with the quiet baffles is deepened, and the sound is much better.
With that said, I have also read that the quiet baffles lose their ability as they age.

I have a SPL meter. With the quiet baffles installed it registered 98db with peaks 102db 10' drirectly behind the bike. 15' in front of the bike it's about 91db peaks. The difference between the standard baffle and the quiet baffle is 3db. It takes a 10db to half the volume pressue. So the 3db difference is negligible. Also the quiet baffle has a deeper tone than the stock baffle. When all is said and done, it's a wash.

I have the Straight Shots slip ons. I have no reason to think the others would be quieter. I would also believe the Short Shots and Side Shots could be 3db-5db louder than the Straight Shots due to their shorter lengths.

What i did i removed the from the v&h quiet baffles the original tiny roll of fiberglass, and rolled three rounds of new fiber tightly. Sounds perfect now IMO, much quieter, still rumbels like it should

3 weeks ago I bought a V&H shortshots staggered exhaust to my 2012 883N and I bought extra quiet baffles PART# 21301with it, I replaced the standard baffles that comes with the exhaust. From the start I like the sound, I will say its loud but not that too loud. The sounds is great especially when I'm idling it has deep tone and I always get a compliments...NICE!

I think you're right. I'm planning to get them as soon as they're removable. so I still have the option to get back to the stock baffles any time.

from my personal experience on the V&H pipes on both Dynas and Sportsters they're basically have the same tone and the same loudness with a small difference of db (3-5) as you said. but mine are too too loud on high speeds. (60 mph+).
