Default Sidecar on Sportster

Hi,

I recently purchased a second hand sidecar and would like to mount that to my 2007 Sporty (see my garage). I figured out the upper mounts but struggle with the lower ones.

I understand that I need a subframe and would be interested in any photos / info you have on sidecar subframes for the Sportster, i.e. subframe design and where to mount a subframe on the bike.

Thanks.

Give Jason Sarratt of Hellcat Customs a shout... http://www.hellcat-customs.com/ He plays with sidecars on Sportsters and I'm sure he could lend some advice.

I have an Enfield outfit and imagine a sporty would haul it much better. Hacks are great fun.

Another good source of information is the Hack forum over at the ADV rider forum.

Here's what I've got so far. Still looking for ideas on how to attach the sidecar's lower mounts to my Sportster.

On this photo you can see the two upper mounts :

That lower pipe may interfere with the mount.

Do you still want it to be able to disconnect?

Depends what you mean by disconnect. It is not important to me to remove and reattach the chair in 5 min but I do want to be able to take it off, e.g. when I sell the bike, so welding on the sidecar frame is not an option.

Not sure about the sidecar mount, but that is one high sporty-do you off road that thing?

HDF has a 3-wheeler section, have you visited that? Bound to be some grey-bearded chaps in there who know everything you need! There are plenty of sidecar threads.
