On my Iron the switch is behind the fluid reservoir, two wires, a orange/white and a red/yellow. The red yellow is hot when the pedal is pushed, that is the one you need
to tap into.
Just checked...that red/yellow wire is under the seat in a connector that has 6 wires.
And it is hot with the front or rear brakes and does not flash with the signals.

I'll work on it and report back as soon as I can. After I'm done with this, I can finally focus on getting my custom made rear fender mounted on the swing-arm
