Windshield vs. fairing - 2009 Nightster
Here is my dilemma:
I would like to add a fairing or windshield to help deflect some of the wind for longer rides, but quick-detachable for around town rides/when it's not wanted/needed.
What are your experiences and opinions? Fairing only?(I've seen a couple of pics on here of some that look awesome) Fairing windshield combo? Windshield only? Regular deflector or a batwing?
Any have any pics of theirs?
Michael

I went through the same decision process and ended up with the National Cycle Deflector Screen DX. I applied some paint (painted the inside with Krylon Fusion) and I'm really happy with the results, both form and function.
I just finished it today and here is a pic.

2. It's universal mount (pain in the ***, but workable).
3. I like the look of quarter fairings and bullet fairings; but, I couldn't find one that didn't require reworking the bottom headlight mount. So, I got this and painted it to capture the essence of the quarter and bullet.

Which mufflers did ya opt for and how easy/hard was it to install the handgrips?
PS I have the same bike

I made a curved picking tool using the metal from a binder clip and some masking tape for the handle. After the install, crank the engine and check the range of movement on your handlebars to make sure that when you turn, you don't accelerate.

Really like what you did.
Just went and looked at the shield you have at their website...it does not look so hot stock. Your paint really changed the look big time. Do you have any other pics of it...different angles?

That's a good look. I have a windshield to cut the wind for the long rides...but it's ugly as sin.
