Default new 2013 48 need advice

Bike just hit 500,

I want to put new pipes on it, something short black and loud. What options do I have...

and the guys at the dealer are telling me I have to dyno it and get a new intake to put new pipes on it... sound right?

Can I just put new pipes on her and not touch the tune / intake?

Jason

New exhaust is going to change your mixture so you need to tune it.

Are you just wanting something loud, or do you want something performance oriented? I would suggest either Vance and Hines Short Shots if you just want loud, or some 2 into 1 system.

I was thinking that,

So If I get new pipes they I will have to tune it? Know a good place that is not an arm and an leg to tune? Near San Pedro CA? Anyone?

I want something dual short and loud, if it adds performance that is a plus but not important.

I would just get a tuner like a power vision. Then you can get away with downloading a new map when you make modifications. In the long run it will be a lot cheaper than doing a dyno everytime you do something that effects performance.

Exotic Choppers "fuelies" pipes are way loud. I have them on my 48. No baffles or oxygen sensors. I have the Power commander V tuner plus dyno'd for more better mapping and performance.

Fvck... people need to stop talking to their "dealer"

No you don't need to add and intake and tuner just because you want to change the exhaust, sounds like "ching-ching" ?

Yes, you can just add pipes and not tune it.

No, you won't need it dyno'd.

The general consensus is you can alter the Intake or Exhaust without a tuner, not both.

Oh seeing your into "short black and loud" you might as well get the V&H Short ***** like everyone else.

I highly recommend the shop below if you do decide to add a freer air intake and a more open exhaust because it is my understanding when both are performed a tuner will be needed, there are many tuners on the market that allow a map to be added for your system but then even they will need to be tweaked a bit and that is where a dyno comes in. The shop below specializes in Harley Davidson Motorcycles and is not far from Pedro just over the bridge and a small jog through Long beach..
