Default Noob fuel question

I was riding the bike around and it quit. I assumed it ran out of gas. I put some gas in it and now it won't start. I pulled the fuel line going into the carb and nothing came out. I took the tank off and noticed that there are 2 lines coming out of the petcock and 1 line running as a vent. Does a 2001 Sporster 1200 have a fuel pump, and a vacuum petcock? I opened up the petcock on both normal and reserve and nothing comes out. Is it possible I have a blockage in there, or does it take a vacuum to operate?

No you don't have a fuel pump, but yes you do have a vacuum controlled petcock valve that does require a vacuum for gas to go through the valve. Check your vacuum hose for leaks, check your screen/filter on the inside of the petcock. Might try hooking up a different hose to the vacuum side and create a vacuum.

Thanks. That's what I figured. I'm going to mess with it a little later. I've got plenty of stuff to do. (not all motorcycle related unfortunately)
