Which one, the Hog or the piglet?

Which one, the Hog or the piglet?
I am in the market for a new Harley. I am considering both the sportster customs (883, 1200). I also am considering the Dyna Streetbob.
My original thinking was to get 883 custom because it had everything that I was looking for in a cruiser for a reasonable price.
My concern was that I would immediately want to get a bigger bike, but even on my Ducati Supersport 1000 DS I find myself mostly obeying the speed limit. I was talking to my uncle (who has a Dyna) and he told me that he and the guys that he rides with call the big bore bikes HOGs, and the Sportsters piglets. I thought this was funny and told him that it doesn't matter to me, and then he told me that the resale value was poor on the sportster's compared to the big bore machines.
If you were me what bike would you get, and why. I will derive pleasure from any of the three, but I do not want to have to upgrade right away. My wife will not get on the back of the Ducati, and she wants a Harley to ride of the back of sometimes. Any of you guys insight and experience will be appreciated.

Ruff, A Piglet is a rider that follows the herd, a HOG is one that ride what he wants, It's a Swine that tells othersa Sportster is inferior in any way. Test ride your potential choices, I'm very satisfied with my Sporty and with it's strengths/character it provides.
